Discrimination and violence against women

An ideology that permits the behaviour described above has no place in civilised society yet its adherents are courted by politicians to gain their support. Even supposedly Christian leaders fall into the same trap.

The goal of Islam is to take over the entire world because they believe that Muslims have a right given by their God, Allah, to "take over the lands of the inferior non-Muslim nations where infidels do not believe in Islam and refuse to worship Allah."

The fate of the West in Muslim eyes has already been made clear.

How can anyone who enjoys their freedom vote for supporters of such an ideology?

D-Day: 80th Anniversary Thanksgiving and Apology

D-Day on 6 June 1944 was the largest amphibious invasion in history and was vital in the defeat of the Nazis in the Second World War. Source: Forces Net

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site gives the number of D-Day allied casualties as 156,000. Allied deaths totalled over 4,000 during Operation Overlord.

On the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings we remember with gratitude all those who perished in conflict and grieve for families who lost loved ones defending our Island only to see their hard won freedom surrendered to an alien ideology. Examples here and here.

Churchill was right.

His resolve:

"We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."
 -
Winston Churchill, House of Commons 4 June 1940.

His warning:

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."
- From Churchill Gets the Last Word on Islam (Middle East Forum)

His warning must not go unheeded.

Christians surrendering to Islam

The Islamic Grand Iftar celebrated recently at Bristol Cathedral
Source: X (formerly Twitter)

The organisers of the Islamic Grand Iftar in Bristol Cathedral last week claimed it shows unity.

The reality is different as witnessed here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here among many other references to be found on X (formerly Twitter) and news outlets.

There is no reciprocity. No concessions to those Islam regards as infidels and dhimmis yet Muslims are allowed to pray in Christian churches which are then regarded by them as mosques in which to pray that there is no god but Allah.

What hope is there for Christianity in this country when the Churches surrender to Islam in this absurd one-way traffic!

Blind guide

The Archbishop of Wales enjoying the Cardiff Iftar Source: X (Twitter)

Posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Archbishop Andrew John:

"What a delight to attend the Cardiff #Iftar organised by the Bangladesh Chamber of Trade. We  have much to celebrate and learn from each other."

The archbishop certainly has much to learn. He could do no better than start by watching this video from Dr Gavin Ashenden:

A simple Google search shows that 'Iftar' is the fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan at the time of adhan, the call to prayer declaring that there is no God but Allah. Ramadan is the month in which Muslims believe that the Qur'an was sent down from heaven "as a guidance for men and women, a declaration of direction, and a means of salvation."

If archbishop John believes in Christian salvation he should be familiar with Jesus' declaration in John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

However well intentioned, such gestures as made by the archbishop are a one-way traffic which help endorse a political ideology that regards Christians as infidels to be persecuted for their witness to Christ.

Whilst it is true that the majority of Muslims live peacefully, it takes only a few to stir up trouble and wreak havoc by those who follow the Qur'an literally.

The Islamic State group have already claimed responsibility for recent atrocities in Russia and in Afghanistan. See also here and here.

Similar events have been perpetrated in Great Britain by members of the so called religion of peace.

While it is understandable that politicians are eager not to offend Muslim voters it is inexcusable that some Christian leaders appear not to believe their own Bible.

'By their deeds you will know them'

Source: The New Humanitarian

While the Gaza/Israel conflict has dominated the news an estimated population of around 120,000 Armenian Christians have been expelled from their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh. In an act described as Cultural Genocide, one of the oldest Christian communities in the world has been destroyed.

It has been estimated that in the birthplace of Christianity, Christians now make up approximately 5% of the Middle Eastern population, down from 20% in the early 20th century.

Meanwhile Islam continues to expand. Cultural jihad has resulted in thousands of Muslims importing their ideology into the Western world. The consequences of multi-culturalism rather than assimilation  can be observed most spectacularly in France where Islam is now "the most practiced 'religion'."

Demonstrations in support of Hamas, a designated terrorist organisation by many Western Countries, have been witnessed in many major cities including Paris, Vienna, New York and in London where, at Speaker's Corner, Islamic ideology is made clear for all to hear while adherents do as they please.

Civic and religious leaders in the West must take their share of  responsibility for this situation. For decades they have accepted assurances that Islam is a religion of peace without question.

Caught in the middle are the innocent. Among them those massacred by Hamas in Israel and the multi-faith civilians trapped in Gaza.

God help them.

Handwashing

Hand washing in the Repair Shop                                         Source: BBC TV

As a long term admirer of the skills demonstrated in the BBC TV series, the Repair Shop, I was taken aback by the first item in last night's episode when a requested repair was made conditional upon the handlers first washing their hands and working in a clean space.

The challenge was for the team to 'fix a 100-year-old handwritten Qur’an passed down four generations of women'.

A woman of Kashmir descent living in Newport, South Wales, made the handwashing stipulation before leaving the book for repair with those regarded in Islam as infidels.

It is understandable that the book can be regarded as sacred by the family but for others the content of the book however beautifully crafted results in persecution and misery for others.

Aid to the Church in Need is reporting that a mass exodus threatens Christianity in Syria and Lebanon while concerns grow over rising attacks against Christian sites in Israel .

The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel (1948) guarantees freedom of religion for all yet The Jerusalem Post reports that 'Dozens of incidents, ranging from spitting to vandalism to assault, have been committed by extremist Jews against Christians and their sites this year.'

According to Aid to the Church in Need "Christianity is facing an 'existential threat' in parts of the Middle East, where communities have dwindled to mere shadows of their former selves... Nearly 75 years on from the creation of the state of Israel, Christians in the West Bank have declined from 18 per cent to less than one per cent; and, in Syria, the number of Christians has plummeted from ten per cent in 2011 — before the war began — to less than two per cent."

Meanwhile others, including the Church of England and the Church in Wales, affirm Islam as if it were another religion of love and forgiveness.

There is handwashing and there is handwashing.

A far cry from Islamic countries which forbid the building of Christian churches and those countries Where Christianity Is Illegal 2023.

It does not appear to occur to some people that their presence is sharing in a political ideology that is responsible for the persecution of Christians and many atrocities around the world in the name of Islam.

In April 2023 Release International reported on Nigeria's Growing Christian Genocide:

"Since 2009, 52,250 Christians have been killed by jihadists, including Boko Haram and Fulani militants. According to Intersociety, militants have attacked:

18,000 churches
2,200 Christian schools
800 Christian communities

[The report] claims: ‘The number of Christians killed in the country… between July 2009 and April 2023 has risen to 52,250 [and] 14m Christians have been uprooted and forced to flee their homes.

[It] adds, ‘No fewer than 800 Christian communities have been seized or taken over; with many of them renamed and Islamised by the Jihadists since 2009’."

For a first hand account of the misery people face in Nigeria simply for being a Christian read how Mary Finds Peace After Escaping Kidnappers.

In Pakistan blasphemy laws carry a potential death sentence for anyone who insults Islam. "Critics say they have been used to persecute minority faiths and unfairly target minorities."

Read Christian nurse Tabitha Nazir Gill's account after escaping 'perilous danger' in Pakistan over blasphemy charges. "She was accused of insulting the prophet of Islam, breaking 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries the death sentence."

Much more is reported almost daily. See here and here.

While Christianity wanes in Great Britain cultural jihad is allowed to spread Islamic culture, often with the aid of the Anglican Church whose bishops are preoccupied in feminist diversity.

Does the Church of England stand for anything sacred any more?

"UK Manchester Cathedral calls Muslims to prayer."

Not Christian prayers of course but prayers of worshippers who believe in a political ideology which denies that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, relegating Him to the role of a minor prophet.

The Dean of Manchester was awarded an MBE in 2018 for his services to interfaith relations but Iftar in the cathedral goes way beyond good relations.

In Islamic countries many Christians are in fear of their lives for their faith.

Recently in the UK, not far from Manchester, death threats were sent to pupils who had been suspended from school for accidentally damaging a copy of the Quran.

Following the love and faith debacle the Church of England appears to have completely lost the plot.

Postscript [07.04.2023]

From Church Times: "The Chapter of Manchester Cathedral has apologised for allowing the Muslim call to prayer to be made in the cathedral at an interfaith event last week.

"The Open Iftar event on Wednesday of last week was organised by the Ramadan Tent Project, a Muslim charity. An Iftar is the meal that breaks the day’s Ramadan fast..."

"C of E guidance for churches and cathedrals hosting an Iftar says that the adhan 'should happen in the room allocated for prayer, rather than a consecrated space'." Article here.

What hope for the Church of England if they can't tell the difference between the redeeming love of Christianity and a punishing political ideology?

Shhh - don't mention Islam

Shhh                                                                        Source: The Catholic Thing

The so-called 'religion of peace' looks anything but peaceful as refugees attempt to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban swept to power. They promise an 'inclusive government' that is compatible with Islamic law so the sting is in the tail particularly for women and girls based on previous experience of Taliban rule.

Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K) has claimed responsibility for the latest slaughter of innocents outside Kabul airport. The suicide bomber will not have regarded his own death as suicide but as having been slain in battle as a warrior for Islam with the promise of 72 virgins in the after life.

The killer's victims were mainly Muslims legitimised by rival interpretations of their faith.

Mass slaughter by Islamists is not an isolated event.

In June BBC News reported that armed men killed at least 160 people in an attack on a village in northern Burkina Faso. The fight against West Africa's Islamist insurgency was reported to be at a critical stage.

In January BBC News reported that "around 49 died and 17 were injured in the village of Tchombangou, while another 30 died in Zaroumdareye". Several violent incidents in Africa's Sahel region had been carried out by 'militant groups'.

Currently, Christians in Nigeria are living in fear of another attack according to House of Lords member Baroness Caroline Cox. "There are reports on the ground that Islamic terrorists are planning an attack on Jos, capital of the Plateau state in central Nigeria", she said.

Whether or not this attack takes place or when there other atrocities in Africa, based on previous experience it is unlikely that there will much if any media attention. Hence the scale of the problem is not as obvious as it should be.

According to Islamist terrorist attacks in the world 1979-2019 "at least 33,769 Islamist terrorist attacks took place worldwide. They caused the deaths of at least 167,096 people. We can also say that Islamist terrorist attacks account for 18.8% of all attacks worldwide, but that they are responsible for 39.1% of the lives lost due to terrorism; or that, during the years studied, there has been an intensification of this violence and that the deadliest period is the most recent: from 2013 onwards, in our opinion, Islam has become the main cause (63.4%) of deaths due to terrorism in the world. We identify and quantify operating methods and targets. The vision of the phenomenon improves, the image becomes clearer. In this way, we show that the majority of the victims of Islamist terrorism are Muslims (91.2%).

The threat of Islamist attacks greatly disrupted our lives long before the arrival of Covid-19.

As The Catholic Thing put it in Religion and the Re-classification of Islam:

"Air travel is not what it used to be. In the 1980s and 1990s, you could accompany your relatives or friends to the terminal, sit and talk with them at the gate while waiting for boarding, give your kisses and hugs, and leisurely head back for home. Teenagers and some “20-somethings” will have no such memories. Now it’s the baleful experience of security lines, searches, removing stuff for the metal detectors, and full body pat-downs for people who – like me – have metal implants.

"Mosques are being built everywhere. Saudi Arabia has funded the building of thousands of mosques throughout the world and has supplied massive funding for the more than 2000 mosques in America. Christian churches are forbidden in Saudi Arabia – and are being destroyed in Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria and elsewhere, where their existence was previously allowed.

"And we learn of the unusual “cultural” proclivities of Islam – execution of apostates and homosexuals, ideological and legal relegation of females to inferior status, female genital mutilation, divorce without appeal, rape without defense, honor killings, stoning for adultery, etc."

There is much to fear from a such threatening, political ideology.

Another member of the House of Lords, Lord Pearson, was condemned as Islamophobic merely for discussing the fear of Islam.

Here is an extract from what Lord Pearson said as published in Hansard and reproduced in the Archbishop Cranmer blog:
"So I submit that it is not phobic to fear Islam, which is responsible for by far the most violence on our planet today. However, if we so much as even try to learn and talk about Islam, we are immediately called Islamophobic by the Muslim Council of Britain, Tell MAMA and other suspect organisations, yet we can say what we like about any of the world’s other religions and nobody turns much of a hair."

Free speech is under threat.

Church and state leaders who embrace Islam as a religion of peace should take note.

What it means for others to be a Christian

“The Lord has not forsaken me.” - Open Doors Revisits Nigerian Widow of Pastor killed by Fulani militants

"Over 340 million Christians suffer persecution and discrimination. They follow Jesus, no matter the cost. With your help, we're bringing them resources and hope. - Open Doors"

From The Nigerian Voice: "3,462 Christians Hacked To Death By Nigerian Jihadists In 200 Days,3000 Abducted, 300 Churches And Ten Priests Attacked".

These are far away problems for Christians in the West where Anglican clergy share their joyous lives with others on Twitter. Life is 'lovely' in their little bubbles. Less so for others.

Speaker's Corner   Mail Online
An article in Spiked poses the question: "You can be stabbed for criticising Islam?"

"When are we going to talk about Hatun Tash? She’s the ex-Muslim and Christian evangelist who was allegedly slashed with a knife in broad daylight in Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park yesterday. And almost as shocking as the incident itself – as this horrific assault on a woman who was merely expressing her beliefs – has been the silence about it. There has been a trickle of press interest, but no big media splashes, no hashtag solidarity, no politicians expressing concerns that Britain seems to have become a country in which you criticise Islam at your peril. What is going on here?"

Mail Online reports: "Met Police are slammed for failing to catch knifeman five days after he stabbed Christian preacher, 39, in Charlie Hebdo T-shirt at Speaker's Corner in front of 30 witnesses in broad daylight."

Christian Concern addresses the problem in "Speakers’ Corner stabbing: ‘Freedom of speech is already in danger’."

But where is the concern from the top? Instead, the Archbishop of Canterbury apologises for events in the past.

Now the Church of England is to apologise for medieval expulsion of Jews: "Bishops confirm that an 'act of repentance' is being planned to atone for anti-Semitic church laws which led to the expulsion of Jews from England in 1290."

In 2752, in the unlikely event that there will be a Church of England, perhaps the Archbishop of Canterbury will apologise for ignoring the plight of Christians in 2021!

Blinkered promotion of Islam

Covid: Eid celebration marks Wales' first trial event for crowds in Cardiff Castle                                                                                                        Source: BBC

"Any act of worship that follows the Islamic rules of prayer can be said to create a mosque, whether or not it takes place in a special building." (Wikipedia)

The threat in Great Britain is not the same as in France where 'one mosque is erected every 15 days while one Christian building is destroyed at the same pace' but the softly, softly approach to affirm and to avoid offending Muslim sensitivities is similar.

This side of the channel while churches and chapels are closing mosques continue to expand. Islam is given a favourable press by promoting the notion that it is a religion of peace while ignoring the threat of the Sword.

Cardiff Castle may now be regarded as a mosque under Islamic rules, the culmination of promoting Islam by the BBC and others during Ramadan.

On 2 May the BBC marked "one of the most important festivals of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan".

Its S4C programme Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol (which translates into English as Start singing, start praising) presented a mixture of Christian hymn singing while promoting Islam as a way of 'getting closer to God'.

Muslims do not sing hymns yet Amazing Grace was sung by a choir as if to suggest the redemptive love of God is somehow comparable with submission to Allah.

Promoted as the religion of peace through cultural jihad, no connection is made with violent Jihad which results in the atrocities regularly reported around the globe.

Addressing the Combined Threat of Violent Jihad and Cultural Jihad the authors found that "cultural jihad may be an equally long-term threat to the West" as violent jihad.

A learning support co-ordinator at Swansea's Gower College said "We make a big fuss [at the college] about Christmas and Easter, but we need to reflect the other faiths and communities."

A wider perspective is needed. Whether by violent jihad or cultural jihad the desired outcome is the same: Rights of Non-Muslims in an Islamic State.

The Way

I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.

In their coverage of Pope Francis' visit to Iraq, Sky News report that Pope Francis met Grand Ayatollah Ali al Sistani - Iraq's top Shia cleric - at the Islamic scholar's home in the Iraqi city of Najaf.

"The Pope arrived at the cleric's small home in a bullet-proof vehicle. As he entered the house, white doves were released, reflecting the themes of this four-day visit to Iraq - peace, reconciliation and inter-faith dialogue. The meeting - the first of its kind between two such senior leaders in the Christian and Muslim world - was held privately and holds huge symbolism."

Later at an inter-faith prayer service Pope Francis condemned extremism saying, "Hostility, extremism and violence are not born of a religious heart. They are betrayals of religion."

But Islam is a political ideology diametrically opposed to the faith of Christians and others. Convert to Islam, pay the jizya, leave or die is the message in Islamic countries.

Violence and persecution against Christians in the Middle East has been cited as one of the key reasons for the exodus of Christians from the region. A century ago, Christians in the Middle East comprised 20 percent of the population; today, they constitute no more than 3-4 percent of the region’s population - The Persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

Followers of Islam live a life of complete submission to Allah, relegating Jesus Christ to the role of a  prophet.

Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

How many Christian leaders believe that today as they engage in dialogue with Muslims as though all Abrahamic faiths were basically the same.

I do not doubt the sincerity of Christian leaders but to date the result of dialogue has merely led to greater tolerance of Islam, excusing every atrocity as the work of radicalised fanatics while ignoring the Islamic aim of dominance and submission of all to Allah.

In Wales the diocese of Llandaff is currently pushing The Landscapes of Faith Festival: "a community treasure hunt to celebrate our world faith traditions in Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Paganism and the prehistoric sites in South Wales."

Nothing new of course. We have been here before.

VATICAN: MARY IS MUSLIM-CATHOLIC BRIDGE

"The Marian academy in Rome launched a 10-week webinar series titled "Mary, a model for faith and life for Christianity and Islam" in collaboration with the Grand Mosque of Rome and the Islamic Cultural Center of Italy.

"Based on his belief that Mary is "a Jewish, Christian and Muslim woman," Fr. Gian Matteo Roggio, organizer of the Muslim-Catholic dialogue series on Our Lady, is seeking to mobilize Mary as a model of "open borders" between religious and multicultural worlds.

"Islamic historian Raymond Ibrahim told Church Militant that "this series is yet another attempt to try to convince Catholics that Islam is somehow similar to their Faith when, in fact, Islam appropriates the names and sacred auras of biblical figures but then recasts them with completely different attributes — ones that reaffirm Islam as the 'true' faith."

Raymond Ibrahim previously blasted the grand imam of al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayyeb for "repeatedly contradicting all the lofty sentiments in the document he signed with the pope," as the Holy See marks the anniversary of the Abu Dhabi deal, which was signed Feb. 4, 2019.

"In an exclusive interview with Church Militant, Ibrahim called out the "doublespeak" of Sheikh al-Tayyeb "if only when speaking in Arabic and appearing on Arabic media, as opposed to when 'dialoguing' with naïve Western leaders who are all too eager to believe what they want to hear."

In October 2020 Church Militant reported that Pope Francis' Muslim dialogue partner Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb had demanded "an international law banning criticizing or insulting Islam — a day before three Catholics were slaughtered in Nice's Notre-Dame Basilica."

POPE TO HOST INTERFAITH PRAYER AT ‘BABEL’

"VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pope Francis' proposed interreligious prayer service for Muslims, Yazidis, Mandaean-Sabean and other religions at the site of Ur during his Iraq visit is being slammed as more evocative of the 'Tower of Babel' than the 'House of Abraham.'

"Nottingham University's Hebrew Bible scholar Gavin Fernandes told Church Militant that "there are several reasons why this is a bad choice of venue for such an event."

"The academic ... expressed surprise that the interreligious meeting was being held in the shadow of a ziggurat explicitly evocative of the Tower of Babel in the book of Genesis — a structure representing totalitarian humanism and flagrant defiance of God."

Having seemingly embraced idolatry, what next?

The naivety of Christian leaders

Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb in Abu Dhabi in February 2019.                                                                            Source: Guardian/Luca Zennaro/EPA

In February 2019 Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb, met in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They signed a declaration of fraternity, calling for peace between nations, religions and races. The document pledged that al-Azhar and the Vatican would work together to fight extremism.

"Violence, extremism or fanaticism could never be justified in the name of religion" said Francis. But what is extremism?

The UAE promoted itself as a "regional leader in religious diversity and tolerance" where Christians were free to worship at churches and wear religious clothing.

However, Open Doors, which monitors discrimination against and persecution of Christians around the world, said the UAE government does not allow Christians "to evangelise or pray in public. Converts from Islam endure the most persecution as they face pressure from family members and the local community to recant their Christian faith."

A day before three Catholics were slaughtered in Nice's Notre-Dame Basilica, Sheikh el Tayeb demanded an international law banning criticizing or insulting Islam.

Church Militant's Dr Jules Gomes responded in a tweet: If there were no death penalty in Islam for blasphemy and Islam were as tolerant as Pope Francis insists, there would be no need for a global law forbidding criticism of Islam.

Sheikh el-Tayeb claimed that millions of Muslims had paid the price for the actions of “a handful of criminals” following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Persecution.org recently reported:  Another Pakistani Christian Girl Becomes Victim of Forced Conversion and Forced Marriage.

It is Christians who are paying the price of intolerance while their leaders continue to take part in 'brotherly love' exercises with Muslims whose religious aim is to convert all to Islam while complaining of Islamophobia to conceal the truth.

Christian leaders would do well to heed the warning of bishop Michael Nazir-Ali who explained back in 2011 how Christianity has become almost extinct in the Middle East, the cradle of Christianity, and Islam, the 'religion of peace', has became dominant in the Arab world.

Islamisation continues

Former Christian Cathedral Hagia Sophia declared a mosque by Turkish court                                                                                                    Source: Wikipedia

Turkish President Erdogan has declared Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia becomes a mosque open to Muslim worship after a top Turkish court ruled that the building’s conversion to a museum by modern Turkey’s founding statesman was illegal, effectively raising their fingers to Christian feelings and concerns expressed by the United States, Greece and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Originally a Christian Cathedral Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) was converted into a mosque when the Ottomans conquered Constantinople in 1453 after besieging the city for 55 days.

Hundreds of people who awaited the court's ruling outside the building chanted 'Allah is great!', the same chant used when murdering Christians in Islamist attacks.

The Times of Israel reports "the decision to reconvert Hagia Sophia - a former cathedral that was turned into a mosque after Istanbul’s conquest by the Ottoman Empire and had served as a museum for 86 years - sparked deep dismay among Orthodox Christians."

So far as I know archbishop Justin Welby, leader of the Anglican Communion has not expressed any concern but then he is busy fraternising with Muslim elders in their ‘Emerging Peacemakers Forum’ while his clergy invite Muslims into Christian churches for islamic prayers, effectively changing Christian churches into mosques in the eyes of Muslims.

In May 2019 when Jeremy Hunt was Foreign Secretary, according to a report ordered by him the persecution of Christians in parts of the world was at near "genocide" levels. The review which was led by the Bishop of Truro estimated that one in three people suffered from religious persecution and that Christians were the most persecuted religious group.

Genocide Watch warned in April that "350 Nigerian Christians were massacred in the first two months of 2020. Over 11,500 Christians have been murdered since June 2015. Four to five million Christians are displaced. 2000 churches were destroyed."

"Nigeria has become a killing field of defenseless Christians. Reliable sources show that between 11,500 and 12,000 Christians have been massacred since June 2015 when the Buhari Government of Nigeria came to power.  These statistics are based on careful records kept by church groups that include the names of victims and dates of their murders.

"Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen accounted for 7,400 murders of Christians. Boko Haram committed 4000 killings of Christians. ‘Highway Bandits’ who separated Christians from Muslims on buses and then killed the Christians committed over 200 murders.

"Fulani Jihadists are now the world’s deadliest terrorist group. Five Nigerian Christians are massacred every day by Fulani and Boko Haram Jihadists. One hundred percent of the 7,400 murders by Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen since June 2015 were Christians. Fulani militias wipe out whole Christian villages, but they leave Muslim villages unharmed."

Despite all the evidence of  jihad over 1400 years, Pope Francis declared "It isn't right to say that Islam is a terrorist faith."

I doubt that the Christians being killed and persecuted in Africa and around rest of the world would agree with him.

With all the resources at the disposal of the papacy one would have thought that His Holiness might have been better advised about the aims of Islam as laid out in the Quran.

He would find all the evidence needed to expose a supremacist ideology that falsely claims to be a religion of peace when that peace arises only after all are Muslims subject to the will of Allah.

The bitter fruits of Islamic appeasement are everywhere but to no avail.

How long will it be before Christian images in Hagia Sophia are covered over to avoid the sensitivities of devout Muslims now that the Christian Cathedral has been declared a mosque?

Islamic ideology favoured over Christian faith

The Adhaan call to prayer being broadcast from a London Mosque                              Source: Metro

From Metro: Call to prayer broadcast for first time in London borough for lockdown Ramadan:  "Local authority Waltham Forest agreed that nine mosques could perform the Adhaan as mosques are closed and Muslims are unable to pray communally as they would usually at this time. The call to prayer was first broadcast yesterday and will continue at sunset daily throughout the fasting month of Ramadan, as well as again for Friday Juma prayers."

Readers will recall the account of a Christian preacher in London who was wrongly accused of Islamophobia after a passer-by called the police accusing him of hate speech. Confiscating the preacher's bible a police officer told him: "You should've thought about that before being racist".

But it is regarded as acceptable in a supposedly Christian country to allow Muslims to declare from mosque rooftops that Allah is superior: Allah is greater (Allahu akbar), that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is Allah’s Prophet!

In my entry Christian leaders endorse Islam I referred to the decision of the BBC to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer.

What hope can there be for Christianity in Great Britain when 'Auntie' BBC, religious leaders, police and councils aid claims to the supremacy of a different god.

Christian leaders endorse Islam

Acting LibDem Leader Sir Ed Davey appeared on Twitter a few days ago announcing that he was preparing for his first ever fast in the holy month of Ramadan prompting Adrian Hilton (AKA Archbishop Cranmer) to respond:

"Forgive me, I'm curious. Did you fast during #Lent? I'll understand if you did but didn't signal it. But did you tweet about fasting or #HolyWeek? Did you express empathy with Christians in isolation over Easter, the holiest time in the liturgical year?

Along with other religious leaders the Archbishop of Canterbury has made a habit of identifying with Ramadan, eg, here and here. In this year's excruciating contribution here Archbishop Justin Welby implies that all religions are the same with some differences in theology but the god of Islam who demands submission could not be more different to the Christian God who sent His Son into the world for our salvation.

For years the BBC have been squeezing Christianity. This year they have been broadcasting the Islamic call to prayer, the adhan, prayed in Arabic:

Allah is greater (Allahu akbar); intoned four times.
I testify that there is no God but Allah (Ashhadu anna la ila ill Allah); intoned twice.
I testify that Mohammed is Allah’s Prophet (Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah); intoned twice.
Come to prayer (Hayya alas salah); intoned twice.
Come to security/salvation (Hayya alal falah); intoned twice.
Allah is greater (Allahu akbar); intoned twice.
There is no God but Allah (La ilah ill Allah); intoned once.

Dr. Gavin Ashenden, a former Chaplain to the HM the Queen, resigned his position in protest against a Qur’an reading in a Scottish church. In response to the BBC's decision he observed in Frontpage Mag, “the Muslim call to prayer is a dramatic piece of Islamic triumphalism. It proclaims Islam’s superiority over all other religions, and in so doing casts Jesus in the role of a charlatan and a liar. The Muslim god, Allah, is unknowable and has no son. Jesus was, therefore, a fraud in claiming He and the Father are one.

"Is the BBC, the government-funded broadcasting agency of an ostensibly Christian land, really wise to broadcast a declaration of the superiority of another faith, one that directs its adherents to make war against Christians and subjugate them as inferiors under the hegemony of believers (cf. Qur’an 9:29)? Is the BBC wise to broadcast the cry “Allahu akbar,” beloved of jihad terrorists the world over?"

Nobody is suggesting that all Muslims are evil but people quickly forget the victims of a political ideology that seeks to subjugate others.

In Germany the trial has begun of a 27-year-old Iraqi national, charged with membership in a foreign terrorist organization, crimes against humanity, human trafficking, and war crimes, including the murder of a five-year-old Yazidi girl.

According to the indictment, in the summer of 2015, Taha A. J. “purchased” and enslaved a five-year-old Yazidi girl and her mother, and he and his wife held them captive at their residence in Fallujah, Iraq, where they forcibly converted them to Islam. Taha A. J. beat the captives and one day chained the child outdoors, leaving her to die of thirst in scorching temperatures."

There is hope. In another story of "God at work around the world", this time from a man who grew up Muslim having memorized the majority of the Qur’an. He was warned by his grandmother to “Watch out for the infidels, and don’t befriend or associate with them; they are a disease on society.”

He started reading the New Testament and fell in love with the character of Jesus. Within months he had read the Bible in its entirety. When his Muslim family found out that he had become a Christian his uncle called him with a warning: “Gather your family, pack your bags, and move out of the house because your grandfather is going to terrorist groups, and if they find you, they will kill every single person in the house.”

Today, he works for a ministry that "shares God’s love with Muslims, presenting Christ in a way that connects with their cultural background and speaks to their interest in themes of shame and honor."

Our Christian leaders would do well to remember that "No-one comes to the Father except through me". (John 14:6)
