The Archbishop of Wales enjoying the Cardiff Iftar Source: X (Twitter)

Posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Archbishop Andrew John:

"What a delight to attend the Cardiff #Iftar organised by the Bangladesh Chamber of Trade. We  have much to celebrate and learn from each other."

The archbishop certainly has much to learn. He could do no better than start by watching this video from Dr Gavin Ashenden:

A simple Google search shows that 'Iftar' is the fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan at the time of adhan, the call to prayer declaring that there is no God but Allah. Ramadan is the month in which Muslims believe that the Qur'an was sent down from heaven "as a guidance for men and women, a declaration of direction, and a means of salvation."

If archbishop John believes in Christian salvation he should be familiar with Jesus' declaration in John 14:6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

However well intentioned, such gestures as made by the archbishop are a one-way traffic which help endorse a political ideology that regards Christians as infidels to be persecuted for their witness to Christ.

Whilst it is true that the majority of Muslims live peacefully, it takes only a few to stir up trouble and wreak havoc by those who follow the Qur'an literally.

The Islamic State group have already claimed responsibility for recent atrocities in Russia and in Afghanistan. See also here and here

Similar events have been perpetrated in Great Britain by members of the so called religion of peace.

While it is understandable that politicians are eager not to offend Muslim voters it is inexcusable that some Christian leaders appear not to believe their own Bible.

  1. Why should politicians not be eager to offend muslims?
They seem to have no such difficulty in offending Christians!
I find the Welsh Assembly usually offensive most of the time.

  4. The Archbishop, considered by many in Wales particularly here in Bangor, to be the last Archbishop of Wales; is well known here in Bangor for the bad decisions he has made. A prime current example of these bad, sometimes life changing, decisions must surely be his choice of Sub Dean, who has not been seen prancing about Bangor Cathedral in his very expensive (🤔) finery for some time now. Nice one Andy.

His Dressiness the Sub-Dean is way too busy playing on eBay offloading the shipping container of unused and now not needed Bishoping Tat he rashly purchased…

    3. He might as well flog off the Deaning tat too.

If only! I suspect he’ll be hanging on to the Decanal tat, banking on Andy Pandy having another lapse and sneaking him in under the radar… Talking of Decanal paragons of virtue, I see Slippery Dick the Sherry not only got away with it, but was commended by the English CDM Tribunal for his integrity…. Go figure, as our cousins across the pond say!

So there are no two decanal absences from Welsh Cathedrals: Bangor and Llandaff. Peers has been cleared for his salacious gossipping, but the word is he won't be returning anytime soon. How soon before the Bishop's husband is shoe-horned into the vacant deanery and the whole pantomime of despair and decline begins all over again? As for Freddy Krueger in Bangor, we could have put good money on this needy, attention-grabbing misfit, who was resolutely turned down for ordination, only for Crap to insist he knew better, coming a cropper. Andy Crap has form when it comes to putting incompetents and thugs in charge of his cathedral (Cyanide Sue, Car-Crash Cathy, and now the grotesque Freddy the ex-Puritan who's discovered the Catholic dressing-up box but lacks the sartorial discernment). And still, we're awaiting the outcome of Inspector Knacker's latest enquiries into the Lavatory Attendant. Will the last person standing please switch out the lights.

  7. The A of W doesn't seem to understand that a faith cannot accommodate another and survive, except where the alternative faith is small and scattered in a few communities.
His sympathy and support for Islam - as opposed to a guarded tolerance - is not a position he can or should maintain. He sells out the Christian faith and ethos in so doing and should seriously 'consider his position' not his pension.
