Budget shock

"This ‘great altar stone’ as Lutyens’ referred to it, would stand as a memorial feature in the
Commission cemeteries and could be used by those of all faiths and none and act as a symbol of common sacrifice." CWGC

I was not the only person who was surprise by the Chancellor's opening statement in yesterday's budget speech as reported in the Daily Mail

"Jeremy Hunt has announced £1million plans for Muslims who died in the First and Second World Wars in his Budget. The chancellor said it would honour those Muslims lost 'in the service of freedom and democracy'."

Some responses here, herehere and here, all neatly summed up by Nigel Farage here.

Need one say more!

  2. I'm not too sure what your gripe is Ancient Briton; that the Moslems shouldn't be enlisted in various 'white man' fights against tyranny and evil or that when they do we don't recognise and honour their sacrifices. Bit like the shameful way US negro black soldiers and airmen were treated when they returned to America after WWI and WWII.

God forbid if it were to be found that the body of the 'Unknown Soldier' laid to rest at Wesminster Abbey were a Moslim or even worse; aethist!!!

If you don't like the idea of a memorial then turn your back on it if ever you need to walk past it. Red Poppy Red is as red as Christ's blood ... albeit Christ was a Jew.

    1. The Cenotaph recognises and records the wartime sacrifes of all.
Didn't stop the pro Hamas scum climbing all over it and disrespecting it did it?
