Atheist First Minister Encourages Spread of Islam with £300K of Tax Payers Money

From Wales Online

"A new mosque and community centre has opened in Swansea. On Friday, Sketty Mosque and Community Centre held its official inauguration ceremony. First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford presided over the event with guests such as the Lord Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor and other civil and uniformed dignitaries.

"The historic Bethel United Reformed Church has been transformed into the Sketty Mosque and Community Centre. The revitalisation project was funded by £400k raised with the Swansea Muslim community in just three weeks and supplemented by a £300k Community Cohesion matching fund from the Welsh Government."

Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford, an atheist, opened the Centre with representatives of Church and State present.

A far cry from Islamic countries which forbid the building of Christian churches and those countries Where Christianity Is Illegal 2023.

It does not appear to occur to some people that their presence is sharing in a political ideology that is responsible for the persecution of Christians and many atrocities around the world in the name of Islam.

In April 2023 Release International reported on Nigeria's Growing Christian Genocide:

"Since 2009, 52,250 Christians have been killed by jihadists, including Boko Haram and Fulani militants. According to Intersociety, militants have attacked:

18,000 churches
2,200 Christian schools
800 Christian communities

[The report] claims: ‘The number of Christians killed in the country… between July 2009 and April 2023 has risen to 52,250 [and] 14m Christians have been uprooted and forced to flee their homes.

[It] adds, ‘No fewer than 800 Christian communities have been seized or taken over; with many of them renamed and Islamised by the Jihadists since 2009’."

For a first hand account of the misery people face in Nigeria simply for being a Christian read how Mary Finds Peace After Escaping Kidnappers

In Pakistan blasphemy laws carry a potential death sentence for anyone who insults Islam. "Critics say they have been used to persecute minority faiths and unfairly target minorities."

Read Christian nurse Tabitha Nazir Gill's account after escaping 'perilous danger' in Pakistan over blasphemy charges. "She was accused of insulting the prophet of Islam, breaking 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries the death sentence."

Much more is reported almost daily. See here and here.

While Christianity wanes in Great Britain cultural jihad is allowed to spread Islamic culture, often with the aid of the Anglican Church whose bishops are preoccupied in feminist diversity.

  1. What community cohesion?
This is a very expensive £300k joke at the taxpayers expense and Dripford is another maggot.
No sign of the Bishop of Swansea and Brecon though?

  2. I'm by no means a Mark Drakeford Senedd fan, but I respect him more for being an honest, self-declared atheist than the 90% of Welsh Anglican priests who purport to be Christian (for the sake of their stipends, livings, clergy-pensions) and then plot against the whole ethos of scriptural Christianity. Honesty v. Hypocrisy. And in same finger-pointing towards hypocrisy, AB, look to thine own page one banner: 'I find this live and let live' attitude endearing. Evidently you don't. Let the dishonest, sordid, Anglican Church-in-Wales live, but no place in this world for decent, Allah (God) believing Moslems. Heaven forbid .... they even despise the very thought of LGBTQ+ buggery. How unChristian is that !!!

Oh, and your statistics. Now do remind me AB, how many Catholics did the Protestants murder, blow-up, shoot, torture etc. and how many Protestants did Catholics do likewise to during the 30 years Northern Ireland 'Troubles' but presumably you're OK with the British taxpayer still spending Billions of £££ to reward them for their inhumanity. Humm.

As a tax-payer, I have no objection whatsoever to Government match-funding others' faiths. Far better use of my money than my feeding hay to a dead horse by depositing hard-earned dosh into my local (so called Christian) church Sunday collection plate and oh, asking atheists to chip in their tax-money to bolster mine through Charity Aid to something they don't support.

I never thought you'd stoop to such parochial and bigoted editorialising.

    1. Your conclusions surprise me Ad Clerum. I was not criticising the First Minister for being an atheist. It simply appeared odd to me that a non-believing politician was chosen to open the mosque. Read into that what you will.

Am I to infer that your silence on the persecution of Christians today is acceptable because of deeds in the past?

  3. Drakeford has no understanding of faith so is able to splash our cash without a twinge of guilt. He did however have enthusiasm for the Pride parade. He just doesn't see the hypocrisy.

There are two Mark Drakeford's AB. Drakeford the private person who is aethist - or could so far as I care be Pagan - and Drakeford who as Leader of the Wales elected Senedd represents the diverse politics, faiths, colour and views of the entire Principality. If he were tee-total I would hardly expect him to open a beer-fest in his local pub, but would expect him to open a major brewery which had in part been financed with public money. Moslems constitute a large part of his electorate : it is quite proper that he should 'lead' by representing Wales in open handshake to those of decent Islamic faith who share our 'croeso' Cymru.

As for my silence on the persecution of Christians ... next time I polish my old UN/NATO medal from standing the line in various blood-swilling ethnic cleansing, 'faith' murdering countries such as Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo I'll chuckle at your lop-sided failure to appreciate what I was trying to say.

Thank you, Ad Clerum, for your comments about "the two Mark Drakefords" which, to me, make perfect sense.

    2. Yes and to me too. I've met Drakeford a number of times. He's a compassionate and hugely intelligent man. His politics are premised on care for the other not 'what about me'. He'd couldn't give a toss what you think AB as it's all about you.

    3. @Caspian What about those 'others' abroad who are raped, murdered and dispossessed for an ideology that he misguidingly endorses by association unless he wants Cardiff to become the next Bolton, Dewsbury or Blackburn.

  7. The AB v. Caspian exchange seems a bit ugly to me, but perhaps its driven by confusion over words. The thread began over issue of Moslems and others slaughtering Christians. Moslems are of a religious faith. Then, he switched choice of word to 'ideology' driven slaughter. Ideology isn't a religious faith; its more akin to Political drive which in most part is core of the problem in so many countries. I would agree that extreme ideologist drive ethnic cleansing, but not that devout believers in one God or another do and certainly not the decent Islamic communities and worshippers of South Wales where Mark Drakeford recently opened a Mosque.

    1. Exactly. Thanks for drawing attention to this. AB uses headlines to peddle right-wing, Islamophobic homophobic and misogynist ideology. You do well to flush him out and correct his inaccurate and inflammatory use of language.

  8. Don't push your luck Caspian! I simply noted the subtle difference in AB tone from 'faith' to 'ideology'; one being religious, the other more Political in aspiration. This doesn't imply that I in any way agree your view that AB is homophobic or misogynist and I am most certainly not on a mission to 'flush him out' or agree his language is inflammatory. In almost all other respects (other than perhaps muddling centuries old history with current affairs and mixing 'faith religions' with Stalinist 'ideologies') I'm a 100% supporter of AB's various stances.

Thought I'd correct your perception Caspian.

  10. @ Merthyr Organist

What on earth is a TAQIYYA. I once met the pompous ass Field Marshal Sir Michael Carver, then Head of the Defence Staff who had been invited to No. 10 for some urgent'ish talks at the Cabinet Office. Rather than just fax back a confirmation 'Yes', he signalled: KTOSNM which totally confused the Civil Service too meek to ask what the hell the idiot was talking about. It didn't even appear in the Ministry of Defence manual on cryptography. His sheepish aide later explained it was the Chief of the General Staff's way of saying he'd attend and 'Kenyan Tea, One Sugar and No Milk'. Bloody buffoon. But what on earth is TAQIYYA ... ???

Ah. Now I gettit! TAQIYYA. There I was thinking it was some part of the new acronymphomania which has entered the English language like LGBTQ or Field Marshal Carver's KTOSNM. What you meant was Taqiyya in the lower case. I'll add to it my limited abilities in Gulf Arabic speaking. Meanwhile TTFN (if you're old enough to remember).
