Beyond belief

Church in Wales bishops, from left: Bishop John Lomas, Bishop June Osborne, Bishop Gregory Cameron, Archbishop Andrew John, Bishop Joanna Penberthy,
Bishop Cherry Vann and Bishop Mary Stallard. Source: Church in Wales

The apparently not-at-all-busy archbishop of Wales who needs an assistant to help him do next to nothing has surfaced to make what he regards is an important announcement along with other like-minded Anglicans who are promoting same sex marriage.

Marching off to Lambeth, not with the cross of Jesus, but with the LGBT banner going on before, the most reverend Andrew John, bishop of Bangor and archbishop of Wales proclaims: "The draft Lambeth Call on human dignity “undermines and subverts" LGBT+ people...the bishops pledge to work to amend the passage “to reflect more adequately our understanding of their equal place in the Church".

That is a distortion of the facts.

LGBT+ people already have more than an equal place in the Church. Gay bishops, LGBT chaplains, same-sex blessings, pride eucharists. All are welcomed and affirmed.

By contrast, Anglicans who, in conscience, are unable to accept the new order, the ordained ministry of women and the liberal agenda that has come with it are cast aside without a thought. There is no longer even a pretence of any place for them in the Church. That evaporated as soon as the movement for the ordination of women achieved their goal.

The female dominated bench of bishops shows no desire to provide an equal place for Anglicans who have not swallowed their propaganda.

That is a battle lost but the baggage that has come with it continues. For many Anglicans the institution of marriage is sacred. As the official policy of the Church in Wales states:

"Drawing on the teaching of the Bible, and of the Church down through the centuries, the Church in Wales Marriage Service talks about marriage as a gift of God. Marriage is described as the lifelong, faithful union between a man and a woman, and married love is compared with the love Jesus has for his people – a love expressed in his willing sacrifice of himself on the cross."

To uphold this officially stated view is being characterised as homophobic while the bishops openly campaign to allow same sex marriage in Church, the archbishop of Wales' first expressed wish after his enthronement.

For the women's movement, first they demanded equality based on secular standards, then parity, already surpassed but the female dominated bench shows no desire to provide an equal place for Anglicans who have not succumbed to their falsehoods.

The bishops of the Church in Wales have become a joke outside their own province. Why should anyone at Lambeth listen to them when their message is anathema to the vast majority of Anglicans and other Christians around the world.

Ironically the lead author in the Lambeth Conference drafting process for The Lambeth Call on Christian Unity is bishop Gregory Cameron - see pages 5 and 44 of the link to LAMBETH CALLS: GUIDANCE AND STUDY DOCUMENTS. The section begins:

"We are committed to the work of unity. We confess we are not united and for Christians that is a scandal and a cause of shame. We urge all our sisters and brothers to commit to work for unity and we call especially on our ecumenical partners to help us, work with us and enable us to move closer to one another."

Yes, it is a scandal. Trendy Anglican bishops are renouncing the faith and dragging down others with them instead of saving their souls.

The first move is to undermine women's ordination.

The homosexual priest relies upon the succes of feminist ideology:

If sex is irrelevant to the priesthood; then so is sexual orientation.

The argument from the transgendered is:

If men and women are the same; then there an be no objection to transgendered priests.

The deconstruction of feminist ideology within the Church in Wales is the principal objective of the new and concealed (so far) of the:

I would heartily recommend Anglican Unscripted. Kevin and George are always worth listening to whether video or podcast. They are old fashioned journalists and orthodox Anglicans who verify their sources and tell the truth. And they go back a long way. George, a mature student at Oxford in 1998, really did type out Lambeth 1:10, so he does know what he’s talking about; he was there. They also have wide knowledge of the Anglican Church throughout the world, having been with Gafcom for example and the Jerusalem Declaration. They’ve had some hard things to say about English bishops from Welby down, and also our new Welsh Archbishop but they are never snide nor mean, although frequently almost speechless with horror. Their last few episodes provide a clear picture of the present shenanigans going on in Canterbury. Watch them before they get cancelled.

  21. As my chum 'Old Bill' asked last night: what ever happened to the powerful voice of reason of the Mothers' Union in matters such as those now stomach-churning the traditionalists of the C-in-W and to lesser extent CofE? The MU was once the cornerstone of every parish and diocese; no vicar daring to vex their anger or challenge their high morals. They'd keep churches clean, organise the flower arranging and stewarding rotas, plan the Sunday School trips and parties, bake the cakes and fill the tea-urns. All they asked in return was that the C-in-W maintain their moral and Christian standards. If they still exist - and haven't yet been infiltrated by LGBTQ+ - where's their voice in this debate. (I was going to write 'penetrated' by, but under circumstance, 'infiltrated' is more delicate). I have no doubt that if the Women's Institute were the body under affiliation with the Anglican church rather than the MU, then the chorus of protest would have been vociferously screamed out by now. Can it be true that the only remains of the Mother's Union are their banners gathering cobwebs and dust and left forgotten in some vestry cleaning cupboards??? That WOULD be the end of the church as we knew it.

I'm not even sure if they have a branch at Bangor's St Deiniol's cathedral any more. But even giving Llandaff Diocese Mothers Union the benefit of the doubt, then let's return to my question: where's their voice??? They would once have been the voicepiece for the sanctity of (m/f) marriage and guardians of morality. Few bishops would have ignored their 'lobby. As for researching prior to engaging; many decades of sound ear to the ground (normally well-proved in both social and professional life) suits me. However, your figure of 2,000 MU members in Llandaff alone doesn't sit statistically with the dire official figures of the total number of CinW attending members ... of all six diocese. Sums by extrapolation don't add up. But there again, in Llandaff, adding-up and bean-counting was never a strong point was it?!

A chum of mine who donated his beloved Land Rover (converted for stretcher-carrying military casualties in the Ukraine) had it 'blessed' by his local vicar before it set off. The sub-dean and LGBTQ-holic of Bangor recently 'blessed' a blooming PIANO wafting it in incense smoke for good measure !!! There was no obligation for the said piano to be even Christian. I sneezed this morning and the till-lady at TESCO 'blessed' me. ++Andrew John took his second wife to a church for post Register Office blessing or perhaps just a nice photo-shoot location. I'm not sure if God really cares much who or what gets blessed but if it brought joy to 'Proud Mum of Gay Son' then good luck to her. The Vicar of Dibley blessed a pig. But will the MU answer my original point. Is the MU supportive or negative towards gay same-sex marriages officiated by Priests of the C-in-W and in churches supported by the rest of us. 1. True enough. But any hope of the new bishop of Swansea and Brecon, John Lomas, being an influence for good has proven to be utterly forlorn. He's fallen into line with the other plankers in double quick time.

  30. No Proud Mum. No dispute at all. There are no vows to God or obeyances of God's expectations in Registry Office weddings; that's their appeal to Pagans, agnostics etc. A Registry Office wedding isn't a Christian wedding, nor Hindu, nor Buddhist; its a Legal process. Equally, as previously mentioned, the sub-dean of Bangor recently 'blesssed' a blooming cathedral piano, my mate's Land Rover was blessed by his vicar, the Tesco lady blessed me when I sneezed. No vows undertaken, no promises made to God, no question of whether Land Rover was a male or female 4x4. Blessings are totally meaningless so your son, bless him, and his husband are in something of limbo. Married in the eyes of the Lord Chancellor (legal), but perhaps not in the eyes of God. Nothing to shout about m'dear.

  31. Registry Office wedding indeed! Its akin to buying a new car and sending off to the DVLC to have it Registered. No more than that. A legal document which generally benefits those who for financial legal-status gain such as Tax or later Probate want a 'marriage' Government-approved. And any thought that the Holy Spirit might take a blind bit of notice of a church blessing - whether conducted by a vicaress and her Mutt - is nullified by the wanton nonsense of 'blessings'; blessings prostituted by some clergy for photo-opportunity gains. Champagne-Charlie, the archfailure of Wales recently 'blesssing' an old railway loco to add to the piano, Land Rover and other non-animates. Does Proud Mum really believe that the Holy Spirit with all the Saints gives a hoot about 'blessings' when the clergy themselves have debased the rite.

Get a grip Mrs. Proud Mum. It would be nice to think that your newly-married gay son and his partner could soon deliver you with a grandchild so that you and the Llandaff MU can bake cakes to your hearts content and celebrate a Christian Baptism ... but of course, as with the 'sanctity' of same-sex marriage, that's pipe-dream.

  32. You make too sharp a contrast as if to suggest that marriage in a secular context is not valid before God. We all know that the church was late on the scene in solemnising marriages and that first and foremost it’s a legally binding contract between two people. I quite like the separation of legal process and blessing that my son and his husband enjoyed; quite continental and particularly Catholic.

    We’ll have to disagree.

You really ought to be in stand up comedy PMoGS, or appear as the intellectually and vertically challenged character in Snow White!
And you have the cheek to refer to another as 'Dumbo'?

The delicious irony: a secular marriage not valid before God?
      🤣 🤣 🤣 Priceless.

As for your notion that the Church was "late on the scene in solemnising marriages", check your Sunday school lessons and then remind us all of the occasion of God's son performing his first miracle. (Hint, it involved turning water into wine.... 🍷...... Getting warm yet dear?)

Following that, you might relieve some of your considerable ignorance on the matter by referring yourself to the following.

  34. All this Lambeth frivolity reminds me of a joke our old Rector used to tell us after his third large glass of port.
How does one separate the men from the boys in a Seminary?
    With a crow bar.
He used to chuckle away merrily at his own joke for at least an hour.
A real character, a good man, a fine pastor to his flock, straight as a die and hugely missed.

  35. It was I, if you all recall, who triggered this banter by raising the fair question: "Where does the Mothers' Union stand in the same-sex marriage" business. It drew 'Proud Mum of Gay Son" to correspond and I respect although don't agree with her views. I doubt if even AB might recall a response which ignited so quickly; even bringing in new correspondents which is always welcome.

However, having just read the entry from "Gay Son of Proud Mum with big gob" pleading her to give it a rest; might we all now respect him too and call it a day. I hope no damage has been caused to their obviously nice mother-son relationship and I wish him and his partner a lovely life, I respect his mum for standing her ground (though I fault her theologies, her failed maths, her misrepresentations of the MU etc. etc.) and trust that we can now all turn to whatever next AB challenges us with.
The one question I posed at start of this was "Where does the MU stand ...". It still hasn't been answered, but do y'know, it doesn't matter anymore. Son of Mum has asked her to zip-it. That's the important thing. Let's all follow suit. Thank you.

    1. Can't possibly agree sorry.
PMoGS has made demonstrably false claims on behalf of the MU.
There's only one way this ends here and now and that is for her to withdraw her false claims and apologise to all legitimate members of the MU who maintain the published aims and objectives.

    2. The problem is the damage done by PMoGS to the reputation of the Mother's Union.
No-one asked her to stick her snout in so she only has herself to blame.
And her bullshit has to be challenged.

Surely you realise Son of Mum isn't really the son of Mum?
Proud Mum is obviously a troll.
My guess is that PM was previously known as TP.
The style of writing and the nature of the outrageous and ludicrous claims are so typical of the invading gay cabal.
If the MU can be infiltrated/penetrated/misrepresented then so can AB's blog.
      Remember, Satan walks among us.

    4. Respectfully AC, it matters very much where the Mother's Union stands on such matters and you were quite right to ask the question.
Just because the only response (thus far) has come from an individual pushing an obvious agenda on the basis of false statements, dodgy theology and an almost unbelievable degree of ignorance doesn't make your original question go away or any less valid.
I would even go so far as to suggest that PMoGS initial contribution was designed specifically to provoke a response and generate support for her queering agenda.
Speaking only for myself, I am delighted with the quality and robustness of the challenges to her false claims and statements, rather than the usual pathetic wet pandering to the so-called liberal woke elite.
      Long may it continue.
If only the clergy and Bishops of the last four decades had done likewise, the Anglican Communion wouldn't be in the current mess with the Cult in Wales facing imminent collapse.

To engage in such a discourse one would have to be adult and healthy but sadly you have severally demonstrated yourself as neither.
All repentant sinners are welcome in God's house but rather than repentant you seem to rejoice in your flagrant disregard for the word of God and the rules of the Mother's Union.

  37. Thanks AB for all the information and the postscripts. It was very good to read what Ms Williams was quoted saying in Christian Today - "Faithful Anglicans around the world stand on the biblical principle of marriage between a man and a woman as taught in Scripture, reflected in the doctrine of the church throughout history and re-stated in Lambeth 1:10," she said.
"Their voice is being silenced by a vocal and powerful minority of apostate Western and American Bishops.
"These bishops that deny the gospel should be removed from their positions rather than be allowed to use their influence to bully faithful Anglicans out of the space that is rightfully theirs.
"It is a great disservice to the gospel, its power and witness when Lambeth Palace allows this to happen."
Let us pray that unless they repent all these gay and LGBT+ backing bishops are removed from their positions.
