Equal marriage!

Secure: Ben Bradshaw and his civil partner Neal Dalgleish.
Mr Bradshaw has drawn the ire of gay rights campaigners by
opposing gay marriage  Source: Mail Online

When Ben Bradshaw was the first MP to enter into a civil partnership he argued that 'Britain doesn't need gay marriage'.

The son of an Anglican priest, he is now following the Gadarene bishops of the Church of England and the fallen bishops of the Church in Wales pushing for so called 'equal' marriage.

Marriage is between a man and a woman, to the exclusion of all others and for life. Supporters of 'equal' marriage are using secular equalities legislation to suggest that those who believe in orthodox teaching on marriage do not believe in equality and discriminate against them. This was Bradshaw's approach.

From Hansard Volume 726: debated on Tuesday 24 January 2023-
"(Urgent Question): To ask the Second Church Estates Commissioner if he will make a statement on the outcome of the meeting of Church of England bishops on equal marriage in the Church of England."

Mr Bradshaw asked the Second Church Estates Commissioner if he "Will he explain to Parliament how continuing to discriminate against lesbian and gay Anglicans in England is compatible with the unique duty of the established Church to serve everyone?

Presumably the MP for Exeter is unaware or simply ignores the plight of the many Anglicans who are no longer served by the established Church because they believe in the orthodox teaching of the majority of Anglicans throughout the world.

The same could be said of the member for Rhondda, ex-Anglican priest, Sir Chris Bryant who claimed in an emotional speech that 'There is an awful lot of pain'.

Indeed there is, particularly in Wales where orthodox believers have been abandoned by their Church.

Sir Chris spoke of a Churchwarden who had lovingly cared for the church and had fallen in love with someone of the same sex but could not be married in the place to which the warden's life had been devoted.

Perhaps the member for Rhondda could spare a similar thought for all those orthodox Anglicans, many of whom have been benefactors and hard workers who maintained their churches only to find themselves excluded by secularists who are using the Church to satisfy their own desires.

This is the trajectory of the Church of England under the 'guidance' of its most senior bishops as seen by Anglican Ink:

The Archbishop of Canterbury was assailed outside Lambeth Palace last night by gay activists who denounced his leadership of the Church of England’s Living in Love and Faith process. He complained of getting “flak” from opponents of the Church of England’s decision to allow the blessing of same-sex partnerships while Global South archbishops warn that the adoption of gay blessings would lead to the removal of Welby as leader of the Anglican world.

Gay sex not a sin, Archbishop of York says, if blessed by the CofE.

Homosexuals must no longer be chaste in order to lead godly lives, Bishop of London says.

'Equality' is replacing theology. God help us all.

Postscript [28.01.2023]

#comeoutforlove... as the Actress said to the Bishop.

In this instance the actress is a political activist, atheist and humanist who came out as a lesbian in 1994. Just the person to have the archbishop's ear.

  1. Gay marriage asks of God that he bless something which he did not design.
Only a casual and unbelieving 'faith' can condone the idea of Christian marriage between two people of the same sex.

  2. I stared in incredulity at the picture of Jayne Ozanne outside Lambeth Palace with her placard "Discrimination is not a Christian value". It is OK for her and her friends to bully the archbishop of Canterbury in an attempt to get him to think her way. That's OK, because bullying is obviously a Christian value in her eyes. Isn't that the way in which all these minority groups work?

  3. Bradshaw is full of bull crap.
The unique duty of the established Church is to serve God, not to serve "everyone".
Its duty to "everyone" is to instruct them in the faith, teach them what sin is and how best to avoid it, in accordance with God's teaching and will, not the teaching and will of Jayne Ozanne, Peter Tatchell or Nicola Sturgeon!

  5. The Christian Faith, in my humble opinion, was created after Jesus destroyed death by His Resurrection and His teachings whilst among us. Originally in this land, now the United Kingdom, the Faith was the Roman Church or Roman Catholic. When Henry VIII couldn’t get his way with Rome he broke away and started the Anglican Church. Over the Centuries others have disagreed and broken away setting their own Faith.
Apologies for boring you all with the above and my poor way of explaining my understanding of past history. My point is quite simple. If there are many of a sexual persuasion that isn’t strict heterosexual, i.e. one man and one woman both having been born that gender, who cannot accept the Church as it stood and stands, I would invite to break away and form their own form of Christianity as others had the courage to do so in the past. This would include all Ordained persons who are “gay”.

    1. To answer my own comment. If the Gay community did form their own avenue of Faith they could firstly remove from the Bible all passages they deem offensive. However, having formed their own Avenue they would have to give up their Parsonage and their Stipend. None would have the courage to do that.

  9. I don't get why so many people are upset about same-sex marriage in churches. You can be in the congregation with people and not he anything anything to do with them and you don't have to go to their weddings or blessings. So if you're sensible they will have very little impact on you. As regards that of destiny up to them. As St Paul indicates says we are all responsible for our own salvation

    ReplyDelete

    1. That is all very well for congregants, but what about clergy who are opposed to such a move in conscience? They have to allow their churches to be used even if they do not agree with what is happening in their church.
I know that stealing is wrong. Would it make it morally right if I got you to steal for me? This is what the plankers have done to the clergy, here in Wales. The clergy can object to performing the 'rites' associated with Same Sex Marriage. I will not call it a blessing because God does not bless that which he has deemed to be sinful. However, the clergy must find someone else to perform in their stead.
For many congregations this is akin to desecrating a place of worship.

    3. Ted, I can go to my local church and unless a couple of the same sex make it blindingly obvious I will not know if they are an item. If they do make it obvious to me I will treat them per my belief in the Bible. If they then make it known they wish to have their relationship formalised in church I will certainly object

    1. You'd think the answer to that question was glaringly bloody obvious.
The church building is supposed to be a house of God, God does not bless sin, pride is one of the seven deadly sins and so a piece of cloth symbolising one of the seven deadly sins should be burned, not draped over the holy table to insult the sanctity of the place!

Hopefully those responsible will be held liable and ordered to repay the Diocese as well as instructed to remove that obscenity from the building.

A priestess and a transgender church warden more interested in campaigning for gay and trans "rights" than God or Christianity. Their agenda is plastered all over the notice board outside the church before you even get into the building.

  12. Faith Militant, agree with you. The Anglican Church throughout the U.K. should follow the Bible as laid down by the KJV. No question or if in disagreement leave the Church. However both the Church of England would not agree to leave the Established Church of England. Similarly the Church in Wales, the Church in Wales, secularly is and has been, since Diseatablishment, been run byThe Representative Body of the Church in Wales. Heirarchy both
.Spiritual and Secular may wish to change this and include “Pride”, the usage of the word Pride” is against everything The Bible stands for.

I actually agree with Justin Welby. If its to be one over the other, then better by far to cut the ties with the Dept. of Culture, Media and Sport etc. and 'disestablish'. But just remember how disestablishment impacted on the Church-in-Wales ... headlong plummet into the cesspit of LGBTQ+ degradation, bickering and 'half-cock' teaching.
