Physicians, heal thyselves

Church in Wales diocesan bishops

Church in Wales bishops have called for the Prime Minister to be ‘transparent, truthful and open’.

The Rt Revd Andy John, Bishop of Bangor, has written on behalf of the Church in Wales bishops to Boris Johnson expressing their “grave concerns” over the suspension of Parliament and the prospect of a no-deal Brexit.

The mind boggles given the state of the Church in Wales. They can't put their own house in order.

  1. Typical modern church lefties! I have no time for them.

  2. .......and completely out of touch with their people when the majority of Welsh people voted for Brexit.......

  3. Transparent, truthful and open! Can these criteria be applied to the C in W?

  4. What special qualities or knowledge have these people got which enables the to advise other people on a purely political matter? I wonder how many had ever heard of Prorogation before last week.

  5. It is well to recall that bully boy --Bazza was exhorting all and sundry to vote Remain prior to the Referendum.
Needless to say, as usual the good people of Wales completely ignored him and voted for Brexit.
The current crop of morons on the bench are entirely worthy of the same consideration.

  6. "Transparent, truthful and open" are not three words that immediately come to mind when thinking of Boris Johnson - how about determined, deceitful and devious?

    1. Politicians are not expected to be morally impecciable but these "bishops" are.

    2. Father David, don't say that. You have now put him on the list of papabile for Monmouth Diocese. It could be a repeat of St Ambrose of Milan, and crowds could turn up shouting, "Boris for Bishop!" He will be deaconed, priested and consecrated on three successive days, and take his place among the other determined, deceitful and devious bench sitters.

  7. I am not an Anglican and cannot comment on the present situation regarding the Bishops. I can though say that I come from a denomination which takes a congregational, and some would say more democratic, approach to church leadership - one which is not without its own defects!

The point I really want to make, though, is that there are people from all sides of the political spectrum: left and right, pro=EU or pro-Brexit, who are deeply concerned at what they believe is a deliberate attempt to stifle Parliament and undermine democracy. I appreciate that we must live in the light of the Referendum result; but I also believe that Government must be held accountable to Parliament rather than simply acting as an executive body. That's a very dangerous game, especially if Government is effectively appointed and ruled by one person, whatever their political hue.

  8. The Welsh Bishops are a bunch of amateurs, who, sensing their own insignificance, try to get noticed by making political statements. What you will not see them do is go out on a limb for Christ. Rather, they will align themselves with any agenda which makes life easier for them, and think that as long as they say 'God' or 'Jesus' enough times they will be safe and beyond reproach. 'Let's have another Eucharist' is their only refrain.

Andy Crap has the temerity to write to Boris Johnson, demanding transparency, truthfulness and openness? Are you kidding? Now we have it in writing. The man is as much of a delusional opportunist as Johnson! Who's idea was this? The Lavatory Attendant? Bob the Builder? Sion the Lodger?

You can see it in slow motion: 'Ooh, the English Bishops have written a letter to Boris Johnson, shouldn't we do something like that? After all, we don't want to look completely irrelevant when the Welsh Assembly is being so proactive. We mustn't miss an opportunity to attract some media coverage when they are ignoring us 99% of the rest of the time. I don't suppose anyone will actually read our letter, so I can get away with being a pot that calls the kettle "black" (except I won't in case I am accused of being politically incorrect). Now, let me see, what can I say that will be as bland as I am? Ooh, it's difficult isn't it?'

Dear God, you couldn't make it up...

  10. Parliament's largely cr@p and the leadership of the C in W is pretty cr@p too. The one admonishing the other sounds suspiciously like the blind leading the blind.
