ReplyDeleteWhat a great shame that the three Service Chaplains were reading secular verse rather than Holy Writ this evening. Just why were they there if not to declare the word of God to our nation in a solemn act of worship?
ReplyDeletePP. I guess Watchman, like most things these days, it's political correctness. Even the Bishop's prayer had similar overtones.
ReplyDeleteOne thing did puzzle me, why was the Earl of Wessex wearing medals, he only spent a short period in basic training. He has never seen action, like his Brother Andrew.
Re Earl of Wessex, he's just attended an Armistice service at Llandaff Cathedral without medals. Was the bishop present? I didn't see her in the S4C coverage.

If you knew Llandaff Cathedral Cymraes yn Lloegr you'd know that it wasn't just the Bishop missing but also half the chairs also. The furniture had been rearranged in a futile attempt to disguise how empty, in reality, the building actually was.

I thought the Llandaff Dean was very professional, and the choir was moving, loved the Ritter piece. PP.
No doubt the Bishopette had some weighty matter to attend to. Perhaps London took precedence over Cardiff?
DeleteAs for the Glove Puppet, he damn well ought to be "professional" since that's what he's paid to do. Though his role is mostly ornamental these days. After such a big event he'll need another holiday!
The short answer is PP that not a single member of the "Family Firm" wears a medal for gallantry. They are all Orders, Commemoratives or putty medals awarded to them by their kinsmen overseas and Andrew did not see action in the Falklands Campaign. His medal is for active service.

ReplyDeleteFor once I shall come to the defence of the cathedral. The Welsh office issues the invites for this kind of service when royalty is present. This for obvious security reasons.
