Nothing to do with this post but are folk on this site aware that the minutes of The Chapter meetings of Llandaff Cathedral are now posted on line. Interesting reading.
A big wodge of money has been handed over by the RB to St Davids but there's no indication it will employ more full time parish priests despite the bishop's enthusiasm. Rob
Yes, the bishop could employ at least two active retired priests for every single priest under 70. It really is worth considering, and there need be no loss of ministry, and sometimes a gain. Dom
Retired doctors will soon be encouraged to reassume duty as a result of the corona virus outbreak. Retired CinW priests should also be used more extensively, even in St Davids Diocese, at a time of drastic priest shortage. Rob
A day of mixed feelings in Llandaff yesterday. Canon Holcombe had his final service in the Cathedral and the place was packed to the rafters. Well done thou good and faithful servant. Unfortunately for the few remaining Parishioners, with Graham now gone it will soon become apparent how much he has been doing and how little the rest have been getting away with.
Gerwhine, Mr Toad and Caiaphas have all been waiting a long time for this day to arrive. The end is now nigh.
According to the notice sheet for the last service of Canon Holcombe, Llandaff celebrated the Feast of St David, whereas the eight o'clock stuck to the first Sunday of Lent... William GD.
If only the Church still burnt heretics, we could return the Bench and their followers to ash much quicker!
