I was not the only person who was surprise by the Chancellor's opening statement in yesterday's budget speech as reported in the Daily Mail:
"Jeremy Hunt has announced £1million plans for Muslims who died in the First and Second World Wars in his Budget. The chancellor said it would honour those Muslims lost 'in the service of freedom and democracy'."
Need one say more!

ReplyDeleteI'm not too sure what your gripe is Ancient Briton; that the Moslems shouldn't be enlisted in various 'white man' fights against tyranny and evil or that when they do we don't recognise and honour their sacrifices. Bit like the shameful way US negro black soldiers and airmen were treated when they returned to America after WWI and WWII.

The Cenotaph recognises and records the wartime sacrifes of all.
