I don't believe it!

Former Dean of Llandaff, Rev Gerwyn Capon Source: CinW

From the Diocese of St Asaph:

The Bishop of St Asaph has announced the appointment of a new Archdeacon of Montgomery.

The Revd Gerwyn Capon will take up the post following the retirement of the current Archdeacon, the Venerable Dr Barry Wilson, in August.

  1. I hope that there is an “Aga” clause in his contract

One year as Rector of Thaxted. Oh well, turns out he’s as successful as a parish priest as he was a Dean. Why not, then? He’s tried just about every other job - let the ‘poor’ man have a crack at being an Archdeacon, see if he manages to stick it out… ‘Asaph Antiques’ - got a bit of a ring to it…

    1. He was never going to stay away from Wales was he? A true welshman and a first language speaker. Good preacher too - take a look at the Secret Worshipper. 9/10 as I recall.

    2. I see the gay cabal of Llandaff are piling in on his behalf .
As a true Welshman why doesn't he push off back to north Wales and his non-conformist Chapel background?

    3. Archdeacon, the disciplinarians of a Diocese. I wonder which avenue will be supported

  3. It took Llandaff three years to persuade Caiaphas that he was a deceiver and liability, followed by a further two and a half years to winkle the dud out of the Deanery, even with the scandal of the missing £70k and the Aga saga.
The poor suckers in Thaxted will be well shot of him but what have the poor pew sitters of Montgomery done to the tree eater to deserve the little mincer being dumped on them?
Beware ladies and widows, you'll be labelled subversives before winter.

    1. It certainly is excellent news for the good people of Thaxted.
I wonder how many will attend his installation in St. Asaph, just to be certain the little dud has gone?

      Speak for yourself, idiot.
Not only is it funny but it's funny because there's much more than a grain of truth in it .
The gay cabal make false claims that they have been mistreated by the Church.
The reality is that the Church and the priesthood has long been a place of sanctuary for homosexuals.
It still is , more than ever.
And now the gays are in the.majority and have taken over, look where the Church is.
Falling apart and on a death spiral into oblivion.

    7. No problem you being critical of gays in the church, my objection is that you conflate that with Paedophilia. Lazy, not funny. Shameful.

He was never going to stay an ordinary PP of an ordinary parish. He was always destined for greatness - just ask him. You can’t keep a good man down….or a cockroach!

  6. The Diocese of St. Asaph are very lucky indeed to have Gerwyn. I would not take any notice of anything negative written about him here. Not an ounce of truth in the allegations made above.

Bishop Gregory is no fool and has appointed him because he is right for the job. There is no scandal here. Restores your faith in the Church in Wales. Pob Bendith Gerwyn.

  12. Seriously guys there's some people on here who need to get a grip and stop being so negative.
    1) Gerwyn, who i am proud to call a friend has never been anything other than kind and encouraging, believing in me when others didnt, and he certainly wouldn't steal from anyone.
    2) This back-biting is what is making the church fall, not whether someone is gay or straight. Get over yourselves.
What did Jesus say? Whoever hasn't sinned may throw the first stone. I'm sure he would be really happy with you all tearing down your fellow human beings online.
How about we all build eachother up instead seen as we were created to love.

  13. It's encouraging to read something positive, but as you have Gerwyn as a friend, perhaps it would be good to hear about his positive attributes. There doesn't seem much written here to endear him. Some positive views might assist us in building up love towards him.

  14. Think of every quality you would expect in a good priest and also every quality you would wish in a friend, combine them and that is Gerwyn. It is a sad fact that any one person cannot please everyone at once and this situation is no different. I just hope this experience encourages people to rethink and be kinder when expressing themselves. There is an old saying of if you cannot say anything nice then keep quiet. But certainly don't keep having a go at someone when they have been exonerated and proven innocent of the allegations.
