How refreshing it is to see an obviously intelligent young man courageous enough to publicise and identify all the very dangerous politically correct nonsense for what it really is.
The more I see, read and hear of what is going on in schools and is being passed off as "education" the more certain I am that I would home school my children nowadays.
The remedy is in AB's hands ... or 'delete' pressing finger. She/He/They add nothing to the otherwise healthy and sometimes informed contributions of AB subscribers. Surely AB's PC has a 'Junk' box. Failing that, perhaps Laughing Gas could direct her to the Vatican TV channel which according to the Pope some nuns use for Porn-watching. She'd get loads of fun from that ... poor old bag.
I respect AB for not deleting my posts as of course they offer a critical narrative.
I am often horrified, dismayed and appalled by the contents of this site and will continue to call it out whenever I can be bothered to read. Not all of my posts get through AB's filter, but the majority do.
The C-in-W has, of course, disbanded its cadre of 'Diocesan officers for Education' who would visit schools, monitor curricula, nudge head teachers and school governors towards 'faith' education and be seen among the children as the church having interest in them. They were made redundant in favour of clergy focus on LGBTQ+ and other odd-ball 'missions'. But what of the umpteen Church-in-Wales Voluntary Controlled (VC) schools which still exist but under local (Education) authority direction and quality auditing? Can it be assumed that the sponsoring C-in-W plankers still have control over the core curriculum of their Infant/Primary schools or have they too been sucked into the septic tank?
I'm still struggling to get my head around what 'woke' actually means. I've encountered quite a few attempted definitions, but thus far not one of them has given me a clear picture.
We seem to moved into an age of vapid sloganizing, both from conservative and from radical quarters. Both strike me as generating more heat than light.
Rather than struggle to get your head around the meaning of the word 'woke' why not challenge yourself with that fortitude that will enable you to dismantle injustices wherever you see them: name it, denounce it and build capacity for good wherever you find yourself. Simples.
Enoch, you do well to remember context please. It wasn't I who used the term, but one of Calvin's brothers, as it were. It's not a term that I would use myself as it ignores the dynamics of intersectionality when it comes to issues of race and identity. Hope that's clear.
I've never had a problem around challenging myself with that fortitude that will enable me to dismantle injustices wherever I see them, because I can generally completely understand what that involves. It's just getting my head around what 'woke' means which poses a problem for me.
@Despicable Dunce You were the one who posted the racist term "coconut" on this blog in order to support and justify your own offensive attitude towards Calvin Robinson. Trying to hide behind your offensive racist black friend who also chooses to use such terms is not only pathetic but serves well to illustrate your true character.
Merely correcting your misrepresentation of my initial post. I did indeed post the term, but was VERY clear about the context. You must be as dumb as a coconut to not appreciate that!! I give to my black friend to call out what he sees, and to do so as he sees it - it's inherently racist of course for you not to see that.
Good Lord! I appreciate that it's All Saints but has the Church yet had time to add a new one to the commendations: Saint Dee-Dee of Blog; recent convert to being nice, to think kindly and to be 'good'? Her blog written on Halloween? I wonder if this previous vicious, embittered, slandering crow has maybe slurped a glug or two too many of her hubble-bubble broth (or wrath)? But if there has been a flash of light, then welcome DD to a far nicer world than that you have displayed over recent months.
"General lefty bias". Guilty as charged, m'lud. "Woke" is a ridiculous word, unless it's just being used as the past tense of "Wake". I tried to find a definition of "Woke" in the modern sense and came up with "Alert to injustices in society". Does this not describe Jesus and the Hebrew prophets?
Well said Calvin.
ReplyDeletePlease don't stop speaking out.
Please do stop Calvin

Somehow, I think Calvin will take the same amount of notice of you as the rest of us - a big fat zero.

More's the pity as you have nothing positive to offer.

Not sure that is true, but both the Headteachers are happily gay.

That's the whole point DD, we do challenge injustice, the injustice of woke cancel culture and intolerance.
