A Scots lad, 17, was chucked out of his classroom by a furious teacher for claiming that there are ‘only two genders’, something that has been obvious to most for generations.
A former magistrate dismissed from the bench for his views on the adoption of children by gay couples has lost his appeal against the decision:
"Richard Page, from Headcorn, was struck off and later relieved from the post of non-executive director of the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust after a decision made on an adoption case in 2014. Mr Page, a Christian, dissented from the view of his colleagues on the bench when a same sex couple applied to adopt, saying that in his view it was in a child's best interests to be raised by a mother and a father."
Mr Page was expressing his view. He said, "This shows that we are now living in a deeply intolerant society which cannot stand any dissent from politically correct views - even from judges."

God created mankind in his own image, male and female he created them. Procreation is not recreation. It is the nuts and bolts of creation.

As far as I'm concerned there's XX and XY.
I believe the rest are mental disorders.
When are the 98.5% of the population going to stop pandering to the perverse malaise of 'right think'?
It's getting to the point that right minded folk are afraid to speak their minds and common bloody sense is facing extinction.
Persecuted for holding and speaking a different point of view then effectively hobbled from raising funds to fight your corner.

DeleteScientifically this is simply wrong. Without taking a view on the transgender issue, either pro or anti, it is simple, demonstrable, scientifically verifiable fact that, although the vast majority of human beings exist as XX-females and XY-males, yet 1 in 1000 or so is born with some sort of intersex condition (used to be called, erroneously, hermaphrodite). This includes XXY, XXX, X- (only one sex-determinant chromosome), XY/XX chimerism, XY with androgen insensitivity (thus taking physical female form), and XX (with externally male features). 1 in 1000 is not many, but neither is it statistically insignificant.
By all means, have problems with the transgender culture if you like. But please don't pretend that human sex characteristics aren't messier than you'd like to believe.
Enter Tomas de Torquemada or the illiberal liberal modern version thereof.

ReplyDeleteHaving thought long and hard about this, I feel that I must stick my head above the parapet even though I know it’s a dangerous place to be. It strikes me that this post focuses on two different, albeit conjoined, issues: gender and tolerance.
The history of humanity is full of beliefs that were once considered self-evidently true but are no longer considered to be; for instance that the earth lies at the centre of the universe, that illness is transmitted by a mysterious substance called “miasma”, that some races are inherently superior to other, that there is a received social hierarchy, that people were created instantly and specially by God … and so on. In many cases the Church has tenaciously supported these beliefs (and condemned their critics) even when much of the evidence has pointed in the opposite direction – just think of Galileo!
I would contend that the same may well be true in the case of gender. It is certainly true that issues such as Transgender have suddenly come to the fore in recent years; but it is far too easy to write off these changes as simply being due to changes in societal thinking or the growth of individualism. And, while it is also true that homosexuality has become “normalized” in a way that would have been inconceivable half a century ago, I cannot see this as part of some kind of sinister trend that aims to consciously undermine our society. In my view (and this accords well with my Nonconformist Christian heritage, though not all would agree) this is about the inclusion of a group of people who had formerly been marginalized.
Of course the Bible says that God created men and women, a binary construct. It also says that the world was created in six days, and few of us today would take this as literal truth! We have to remember that Scripture – which I regard very highly – was written in a pre-scientific age and is an attempt to explain, in religious terms, the world “as it is”. However we live in a different age and my contention is that some of our views – including this one – may need to be revised in the light of newer knowledge. As it happens, I have for long believed that sexuality lies on a spectrum, with “straight” at one end and “gay” at the other; I suspect we may well find out that the same is true of gender although here the polarities are far more marked.
Recently (and in a setting which was predominantly conservative from a theological perspective) I attended a seminar which discussed the pastoral care of transgender people. One comment was made which I found intriguing: “God created night and day – but he also created dawn and twilight; he created sea and land; but he also created swamps and marshes”. Does this offer us a way forward?
I realise that I have only addressed one of the themes of the post; the other, of freedom of speech, “political correctness” and “the illiberality of liberalism”, will have to wait for another time!

"dawn and twilight" yes, but we put the light on, because that is better and safer and sensible; "swamps and marshes", yes, but they are a haven for mosquitoes, we drain the marshes to produce productive farmland, we put up sea defences to stop encroachment ruining lives

Forgive me, but didn't God create man and women as different and complementary, therefore to have proper sex and pro-create? Gay sex is not able to do this and can never be equated with heterosexual intercourse no matter how vociferous the LGBT community becomes. Whether gay sex is sinful or not (and much of it is practised as an obvious perversity) is debatable since there are clearly people who are strongly attracted to their own sex. What isn't debatable is the natural order in God.

Church of England appoints first black female bishop
and what is wrong with this appointment? Woman who has worked her way up through some very difficult parishes respected in her role in Parliament, I would say that it is not business as usual at all.
DeleteApparently, the 'Difficult' parishes had not been 'Difficult' until she arrived with her heavily loaded feminist agenda and 'Must call God Mother' dictate.
DeleteOn her first day in the lord's, she was in the bishops robing room awaiting the summons. The summons came and in centuries old tradition She was referred to as The Right Reverend Father in God. Instead of going along with it and having a quiet word, she refused to answer the summons and would not leave the robing room. So she was summoned again, this time being addressed as The Right Reverend Mother in God. She refused the summons once more as she did not like the connotations associated with the title Mother !!! And so on the third summons, she was simply addressed as Bishop and off she trotted - having made her point - to the embarrassment of her fellow bishops.
For me this is about trusting God in how he want us to set up the social order. Christendom implemented a strict settlement of marriage between one man and woman for life as the basis for family life in correct interpretation of the scriptures. This is the great gift of Christianity to Western Society that is undeniably superior in every way to any 'alternative'. The current state of society is a result of individual gone mad.
ReplyDeleteVirtually every person with a brain has some rules for who can have sex and marry with each other whether they 'love' each other or not. Rules around affinity, age, number of persons are all assumed. Yet those wishing to remain faithful to God's way are criticized for bigotry and hate.
It seems ironic to me that those shouting the loudest have their own rules that contradict their primary principle of 'love'. By their own arguments they too are bigots to the polygamist, the polyamourist or the incestuous. Unless of course they believe these activities should not only be allowed but celebrated too?
