Bad company ruins good morals

The quote from Corinthians "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company ruins good morals' " sits uneasily under the hashtag link #BibleSunday in the photograph associated with this St Davids Cathedral Library tweet.

Baroness Eluned Morgan must have been keeping bad company according to a BBC News item.

She told the BBC that she will give up her peerage and title if she becomes first minister adding, "A difficult decision because I'm very proud of the work that I have done in the House of Lords: to help promote gay marriage...". [My emphasis - Ed.]

A curious message after viewing a display of ancient bibles in the Cathedral library. Perhaps she was searching for a reference in support of gay marriage in holy scripture after listening to errant bishops promote same sex marriage rather than the sanctity of Holy Matrimony:

"The introduction to the Church in Wales Marriage Service describes marriage as a gift from God.  The Bible teaches that marriage is a life-long, faithful union between a man and a woman, and compares married love with the love Jesus has for his people – a love expressed in his willing sacrifice of himself on the cross."

St Davids has become a hotbed of feminist intrigue under the first female bishop to be appointed in the Church in Wales whose driving force is most noticeable when advancing her LGBT agenda along with the bishop of Llandaff.

More recently +Joanna has been condemned for her misandry after being caught out ridding her diocese of elderly male clergy after years of faithful service to the Church.

Such clergy have devoted their lives to preaching the Gospel according to scripture and tradition, unlike many of the new breed of clergy who have 'come to faith' later in life with the notion that the Church has been in error for 2,000 years.

Sadly the baroness has been caught up in the whole sorry mess, another example of "Ministry and Equality in the Church in Wales" advocated by MAE Cymru voicing the values of a "fair and just society" as they see them. (Scroll down in the link to MAECYMRU NETWORKING LUNCH JULY 2018).

  1. So the scholarly (not) Suzanna Bale (Church of England reject) and the spooky-looking woman in the chasuble are at the cutting edge of cultural intellectual engagement are they? A model to dramatically reverse the Church in Wales's inexorable decline?

Yes, it's pathetic. But it is sad beyond words.

  2. Eluned Morgan has been a great disappointment in recent years.
By associating with these "wimmin" she will be contributing to the demise of the diocese of St Davids just as she is contributing to the demise of the Welsh language and culture in her present office.

It's all just so much windowdressing Watchman. At the end of the day all this bandwagon jumping onto the gay marriage issue can't hide the worsening attendance figures at C in W churches.

It's just a desperate attempt to stay relevant. How many more people will come to church because the hierarchy makes such a big deal about welcoming gay marriage? Fact is that it's simply irrelevant to most peoples's lives. Ditto for "trans" issues and the like.

Instead of bashing away at spurious social justice concerns, the Church should address problems faced by the majority of people with families. The sort who until very recently were the backbone of this institution. Do any of the good ladies in the photo care about the average Joe or the silent majority? If not, the average Joe will stay away from church!

In that case Average Joe you were more farsighted than me. I stuck around until recently. The past 15 years since Bazza became Archbishop were an utter waste of time.

There's no point hanging around a dying institution however much you want it to turn a corner. A church that puts the likes of His Darkness into the highest positions doesn't deserve to survive.

  3. Friends in Oxford are saying: "What goes around, comes around." In this case, the Dean of Christ Church, Martyn Percy, is on the receiving end of a tribunal after pushing his agenda on the ancient scholars of his college. You will recall that he helped to derail Philip North's appointment as Bishop of Sheffield.

    Pass the port, Mr Dean.

  4. Horrified to awaken this morning to hear Manon Ceridwen James (Parry) delivering "Munud I Feddwl" which is Radio Cymru's equivalent of "Thought for the Day".
Do not the BBC conduct background checks upon contributors to these influential soundbites?
It is an insult to have to start the day listening to the delusions of Freddie Mercury being given precedence over the wholesome gospel teachings of Jesus Christ.
Her subject? You guessed it "Love" - but not as we Christians know it!
